Our Preschool and Pre-K programs utilize The Creative Curriculum, which focuses on meaningful play to enhance each child's social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.
Our preschool classrooms continue to develop fundamental skills and incorporate a strong focus on literacy development. We target areas of writing, independent reading, math, science, community, high-frequency words, and literary discussions.
The WCADCC is an affiliated center with The West Chester Area School District (WCASD) to ensure a smooth transition from us to elementary school. We meet yearly to review our curriculum, language arts, and mathematics. Direct instruction in Wilson Fundations is the primary phonics and word study resource for students in grades K-3. We incorporate the Heggerty Early Pre-Kindergarten Curriculum phonological awareness as a supplementary resource, as does the WCASD. A systematic progression is used to introduce students to different phonological skills and realty literacy skills throughout the weekly lessons. The phonological awareness activities prepare children for further reading instruction and are critical for learning any alphabetic writing system.
The Center serves nutritionally balanced breakfasts, lunches, and afternoon snacks at no additional cost to parents. Meals are served to children under the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
