This is a letter from our original president, Ralph R. Matlack Jr., dated 1965. When it was written, we were called The Day Care Association, which as the letter states, was “the community service for children of working mothers who are bereft of a husband’s presence or support in coping with social problems”. At the time the letter was written, there were 50 children enrolled in the Center.
The letter calls on the community to bridge the gap between what they need and what parents of children under their care were paying.
